Pool Rules

Rules and policies for both Cimarron Parkway and Highland Knolls pools. All residents and guests are expected to follow these rules at all times.

Enforcement Notice Anyone violating the following rules is subject to losing recreational privileges with the Memorial Parkway Community Association. MPCA swimming pools and pavilion are restricted for the use of residents and their guests.

Pool ID & Registration

All residents must obtain a pool ID from the MPCA office before using the pools. Renters need additional documentation from their homeowner. Select the appropriate form below.

General Pool Rules

These rules apply to both Cimarron Parkway and Highland Knolls pools during all operating hours.

  1. All residents must receive a pool ID from the office.
  2. Guests must be accompanied by a registered resident and must sign in. 5 guests are allowed per family at one time.
  3. Lifeguards have the responsibility for maintaining discipline and enforcing pool rules in the pool area. Lifeguards shall call infractions of rules to the attention of offending individuals. Lifeguards have the authority to deny the use of pool facilities to residents. Punishments related to violations will be addressed by the board.
  4. Swimming is only allowed when there is a lifeguard on duty.
  5. Mermaid fins or other devices that restrict leg movement are not allowed in the water.
  6. All guests can be subject to a swim test. Guests who are unable to swim one length of the pool will not be granted access to the deep end. Please see the Child Safety Policy below.
  7. Swimmers must wear proper swimsuits. Children who are not toilet trained must wear protective rubber pants, or equivalent, under their swimsuits.
  8. Children under the age of fourteen (14) are not allowed in the pool unless accompanied by an adult at least eighteen (18) years of age or older.
  9. The baby pool is reserved for children 42" and under. Children must be supervised by a responsible parent or adult.
  10. No running or shoving allowed in the pool area.
  11. No pets allowed in the pool area.
  12. Anyone with open sores or wounds is prohibited from using the pool.
  13. Floating devices may be allowed at the discretion of the lifeguards. No floating devices are allowed in the diving area. No large floating devices.
  14. Throwing hard balls and objects is prohibited.
  15. No standing or sitting on the safety rope.
  16. All children under the age of eighteen (18) must vacate the pools for the last ten (10) minutes of every hour for adult swim.
  17. Glass containers are not allowed in the pool area.
  18. Drinking and eating are not allowed within four feet of the pool. Smoking is not allowed inside the pool area.
  19. Drinking alcoholic beverages is strictly prohibited except by persons of legal age. Proof of age may be required. Drunkenness and obscene language will not be tolerated.
  20. Three (3) short blasts of a lifeguard's whistle requires everyone to immediately vacate the pool.
  21. MPCA and pool contractor are not responsible for lost or stolen items.
  22. No bicycles, skates, skateboards, or tricycles are allowed in the pool area. Bikes must be parked in the bike rack.
  23. The emergency phone is not to be used for personal calls and must be turned over to the lifeguards in case of an emergency.
  24. MPCA or the pool contractor may enforce other rules deemed necessary for the safety of residents and guests.
  25. No parties during pool hours. The pool can be rented through the office.
  26. No loitering.
  27. Only lifeguards and gatekeepers are allowed at the check-in table.
Diving Board Rules
  1. The diving pool area is to be used for diving only. No swimmers allowed unless authorized by lifeguards.
  2. No more than one person is allowed on the diving board at one time.
  3. All diving shall be from the end of the diving board and straight forward — never off the side. The water in front of the board must be clear of swimmers before jumping into the pool. Swim directly to the wall after diving.
  4. Guests wearing personal flotation devices are not permitted to use the diving boards. Goggles, flippers, and snorkels are not permitted on the diving board.
Slide Rules
  1. Guests must be at least 42" tall to ride the slide.
  2. Only one (1) guest may use the slide at a time. Tandem sliding is not allowed.
  3. Guests must exit the slide deposit area upon entering the water.
  4. Guests wearing flotation devices are not allowed to use the slide.
  5. No pushing, pulling, shoving, or other horseplay allowed on or near the slide.
  6. All guests are required to ride the slide on their back, feet first.
  7. Guests with heart conditions, back problems, or who are expecting should not use the slide.
  8. Goggles, flippers, and snorkels are not permitted on the slide.
Child Safety Policy
  1. Children 48" and under in height entering the swimming pool area will be required to wear a wristband issued by the lifeguards.
  2. The swim test consists of swimming one length of the pool unassisted. This includes no aid from flotation devices, lane ropes, pool walls, or the bottom of the pool.
  3. Any child on the Child Safety Log can be asked to perform the swim test again should the lifeguards on duty feel the child's swimming ability has diminished.
